Townhouse Hotels, founded in Maastricht in 2008, is moving its hotels under global brands. Six will carry the Series banner and two will join Tribute Portfolio.

Marriott International has signed an agreement with Townhouse Hotels to add eight hotels and more than 700 rooms in the Netherlands. The properties are located in five cities: Amsterdam, The Hague, Maastricht, Eindhoven, and Breda. Six of them will join Series by Marriott, which makes its Dutch debut with this deal. The other two will join Tribute Portfolio, Marriott’s collection of independent-minded hotels.

The agreement also gives Marriott its first hotels in Maastricht and Eindhoven. Marriott already runs more than 30 properties in the Netherlands across 12 brands, including W Hotels, Sheraton, Courtyard, Moxy, and citizenM. Townhouse Hotels was founded in Maastricht in 2008 and now operates ten hotels in the country. All of its hotels will move under Marriott brands, with two going to Tribute Portfolio and the rest to Series by Marriott.

What Is Joining Series by Marriott

Series by Marriott is a collection brand that groups established regional hotel brands under one roof. It targets travelers who want comfort and value, along with a feel for the place they are visiting. Each hotel keeps its local identity, and the brand focuses on getting the basics right. The six Townhouse hotels will carry the “Townhouse” name followed by their city and “Series by Marriott.”

The six hotels, which total 494 rooms, are:

  • Townhouse Amsterdam WTC: 84 rooms in the Zuidas business district, rebranded from Hotel Qbic WTC Amsterdam.
  • Townhouse The Hague: 88 rooms near government institutions, international organizations, and cultural sites.
  • Townhouse Maastricht: 82 rooms close to the historic center.
  • Townhouse Mabi Maastricht: 55 rooms in a former cinema.
  • Townhouse Kaboom Maastricht: 79 rooms with a design-led, lifestyle concept.
  • Townhouse Breda: 106 rooms, rebranded from Hotel Keyser, and the largest Series by Marriott hotel in the group.

Two Hotels for Tribute Portfolio

The Ald Hotel The Hague and Hotel Mariënhage Eindhoven will become Tribute Portfolio hotels. The Ald has 91 rooms and is a boutique property known for its contemporary design and small-scale feel. Mariënhage has 134 rooms and occupies a former monastery complex, mixing historic architecture with modern amenities. It also marks Marriott’s arrival in Eindhoven, a city known as a technology and innovation hub.

Tribute Portfolio brings together hotels that stress individual design, lively social spaces, and ties to their local surroundings. The two new additions grow the brand’s presence in Europe. They also give Marriott another pair of independent-style hotels in a market where it already has a broad range of brands. Together, the two properties add 225 rooms to the deal’s total.

What the Executives Said

Marriott’s Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa, called the agreement a milestone for the company in the Netherlands. He pointed to the mix of independent hospitality experiences on offer and the entry into two new cities. Joost Mees of European Hotel Capital, which backs Townhouse Hotels, said the move strengthens the company’s foundation for growth in the years ahead. Rick de Jonge, CEO of Townhouse Hotels, described the deal as a defining moment for his team and said it opens access to new guests and markets.

The hotels are expected to join the Marriott portfolio, and the release did not give opening dates for the rebranded properties. Marriott said the deal fits its broader push to grow in Europe through established owners and operators. The company has more than 10,000 properties in 148 countries and territories, as of June 30, 2026. Townhouse Hotels, for its part, says it wants to show that scale and individuality can coexist.
