Virgin Hotels is putting down roots in Atlanta with a 261-room property inside Centennial Yards, opening its doors in late 2027

Every week, one project in our database earns a closer look, and this time it’s Virgin Hotels’ latest project. Virgin Hotels Atlanta is officially under construction, marking the brand’s next step in its global expansion and its first step into the city.

The 261-room property is being developed in partnership with Drew Company and CIM Group, with Gensler handling both architecture and interior design. Construction is underway now, with doors expected to open in Q4 2027.

A Downtown Anchor in Centennial Yards

The hotel is located inside Centennial Yards, a 50-acre redevelopment reshaping downtown Atlanta into a hub built around entertainment and culture. Rated at four stars, the property will act as one of the anchors for that broader neighborhood push.

This will be Virgin Hotels Collection’s 18th property worldwide, joining a list that already spans New York, Edinburgh, and London. It also is coming the same year as the group’s newly announced Virgin Limited Edition property in Marrakech, putting 2027 on track to be a milestone year for the brand’s growth.

Joe Margison, CEO of Virgin Hotels, pointed to the brand’s existing ties to the city: “It’s a city Virgin knows well, with Virgin Atlantic connecting customers to London and Manchester daily and across the US in partnership with Delta Air Lines. Now, we’re looking forward to giving travelers and locals a new way to experience the Virgin brand—with a hotel that brings together heartfelt service, bold design, and plenty of personality.”

He added that the hotel is designed to feel rooted in the pulse of Centennial Yards while giving Downtown Atlanta a new gathering point for staying, dining and drinking.

Rooms, Suites, and Spaces to Gather

All 261 rooms will follow Virgin Hotels’ signature Chambers concept, laid out to accommodate sleeping, working, and relaxing without feeling like three separate zones stitched together. Options range from Grand King Chambers to One-Bedroom Suites and premium upper-floor rooms, topping out with a Penthouse Suite and the brand’s flagship Richard’s Flat.

Food and drink get equal billing. The hotel will run three distinct venues: a ground-floor lobby bar built for coffee runs and late-night cocktails, a signature restaurant and pool bar with a private dining room and terrace, and a rooftop bar and lounge designed around skyline views and event nights.

Outdoor space follows the same logic. A pool deck with private cabanas and a seasonal bar rounds out the leisure side, while 2,900 square feet of flexible event space covers everything from meetings to parties.

Behind the scenes, the project pulls together Virgin Hotels, Drew Company, Centennial Yards Company, and CIM Group, each contributing a piece of what’s shaping up to be one of downtown Atlanta’s more distinctive new additions.
