Hyatt Hotels Corporation has revealed plans to launch its first Park Hyatt branded residences in the Japanese market.
A project in the renowned Japanese ski resort of Niseko will be the springboard for growing Hyatt’s branded residences stream in the country. Working with local partner Pacific Century Premium Developments, the global hotel group is launching One Hanazono Villas, a selection of bespoke designed villas, delivering alpine living with a new twist.
Spacious Slopeside Villas
These will be villas with space and scale. Each unit will span between 700 and 1,000 square metres of floorspace, with typically four to six ensuite bedrooms, designed for comfortable year-round residence, or for families who like to spend a ski season on site. The properties will be ski-in, ski-out, built on an enviable slope side location, with common shared spaces including a lounge that will be just the place to share acres ski hours. A comprehensive hospitality service, just like that in a hotel, will be provided by the team from the co-located Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono.
Benjamin Lam, group managing director of PCPD, commented: “Inspired by the warm reception of Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono and its residences, which launched and opened in 2020, we are delighted to deepen our longstanding relationship with Hyatt through One Hanazono Villas, to be crafted as works of art to be cherished and passed down through generations.”
Niseko continues to grow and improve as a leading ski destination in Japan. The region is seeing major improvements in ski infrastructure, including larger lifts and gondolas, as part of a “Value Up Niseko 2030” transformation plan.
Restaurants, bars, eateries and rest stops around the resort are also being expanded and refurbished. The Yukoro Onsen baths, which closed in 2019, have been reopened, presenting the perfect place for unwinding after a strenuous day cycling or skiing. And, naturally, these investments in the destination have encouraged international hotel operators to improve their presence in the region.
Among other international brands planning their arrival in the Niseko area is Moxy, Marriott’s playful brand aimed at a younger demographic. Moxy Niseko will have 310 rooms, and is expected to open before the end of 2026.
Hilton Agrees Multisite Deal with YTL
Hilton, too is adding to its presence in the ski area. It signed a rebranding deal with regional operator YTL Hotels that will see three properties benefit from Hilton’s distribution system. LXR Hotels & Resorts will be the new brand for the Kasara Niseko Village hotel, while Green Leaf Niseko Village is joining the Tapestry Collection. A third property, Hinode Hills Niseko Village will join Hilton’s Curio Collection.
Luxury brands are taking the opportunity to muscle in on the region’s real estate. Accor is progressing the Fairmont Niseko, reviving the La Plume development, a previous project that started but stalled prior to completion. The 165 room hotel will open in 2028. Also coming is Aman Niseko, the fourth Japanese hotel for the famed brand. The 61 room ultra luxury hotel that will open in 2030.
