Construction has officially begun on The Mtn Scout Truckee, a 129-room Tribute Portfolio hotel located in Northern California’s Lake Tahoe Basin. Developed by Gray’s Crossing Hospitality in partnership with Huff Construction and H-CPM, the boutique property will open in early 2028 under the management of PM Hotel Group.
Set in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the hotel offers immediate access to premier skiing, hiking, biking, and water sports—positioning it as a new social hub and launch point for year-round outdoor adventure.
“This hotel serves as both an integral piece of the Village at Gray’s Crossing and a cornerstone of the community, elevating the après scene in Truckee-Tahoe when it opens,” said Matthew Abbate, Managing Partner at Gray’s Crossing Hospitality.
Modern design rooted in local culture
Designed by Andrew Goodwin Designs (AGD) with interiors by Sixteenfifty Creative Intelligence, the hotel blends contemporary mountain aesthetics with a sense of place. Tunnel 6, the hotel’s third-floor whiskey bar, pays tribute to the workers who built Truckee’s historic railroad tunnel.
Key property features include:
- Lobby-level restaurant and bar

- Outdoor gathering spaces with fire pits
- Courtyard hot tubs
- Third-floor whiskey bar and lounge (Tunnel 6)
- Event hall with gardens and patios
- Fitness center
- Valet gear storage for outdoor equipment
“The Scout hotel will create a welcoming space where both locals and visitors can connect, celebrate, and experience the community’s unique character for years to come,” said Stephen Siegel, Principal at H-CPM.
Located within the growing Village at Gray’s Crossing, the hotel joins a mix of luxury residences, affordable housing, and resort-style amenities—further elevating Truckee’s appeal as both a residential and travel destination.
