Hotel Indigo, a part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, has made its New Zealand debut in the heart of Midtown

Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has officially made its New Zealand debut with the opening of Hotel Indigo Auckland, located in the heart of Midtown. The 225-room hotel blends rich local history, culturally inspired art, and globally influenced cuisine to create the perfect new destination for both visitors and Aucklanders in the City of Sails.

Hotel Indigo Auckland honors historic roots with bold art and design

Located on the historic site of a 1912 motor house that used to import Cadillacs into New Zealand, Hotel Indigo Auckland’s design pays homage to its industrial past with a mix of heritage-listed and modern architecture. Beautiful interiors and works of art make every corner of the hotel an immersive cultural experience.

Acclaimed New Zealand contemporary artist and photographer Stuart Robertson has curated a unique photographic exhibition across all 25 floors of the hotel, each capturing a visual story of Auckland’s culture and neighborhoods. In the lobby, stylist Simone Haag has created a vibrant display of local works of art, while Raukura Turei has contributed two installations made from natural materials, reflecting her ancestral heritage and spiritual connections.

Hotel features and location

Located in Midtown Auckland, this new luxury hotel spans 27 floors of a 41-story tower, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic views of the city skyline and harbor. Reflecting its boutique character, the hotel’s design is inspired by local motoring heritage. Guest room features and amenities include the following:

  • 225 rooms, including 10 accessible options
  • Automotive-inspired design such as rear-view mirrors, headlamp lighting, industrial-style open wardrobes, and car upholstery-style finishes
  • Custom-designed carpets depicting Auckland street maps
  • A locally stocked mini-bar with Kokako organic coffee, Karma Drinks, Flox-designed 1907 water, and Zealong Tea
  • Premium bathrooms equipped with GHD hairdryers and exclusive MARACA Waitematā body and hair care products
