New hotel brand Verdi has added its fourth hotel, opening a resort property in Tunis, as it sets out on a year of expansion into new markets

Verdi Hotels has launched a new resort hotel in Tunis, ahead of a year of ambitious expansion plans.

The beach property is the brand’s first hotel in North Africa, and its first resort hotel too. Guests will be able to enjoy all year round sun at the destination, which features 300 guest rooms, and five restaurants and bars. There is direct access to the beach, as well as outdoor and indoor swimming pools.

Expanding into new countries

The opening takes Verdi into a new region, as it aims to tap into destinations that will increasingly grow their profile on the international tourism map. “This expansion reflects our commitment to delivering unique and unforgettable experiences tailored to the needs of today’s traveller,” said Verdi Hotels president Paul Pisani. “At the heart of this expansion is our commitment to embracing and celebrating local culture and we’ll continue to push the boundaries and bring our brand to even more destinations in 2025 and beyond.”

The brand is very young, having launched in 2024 when it started out with two hotels in Malta, and one in Budapest. The aim for the next year is to build out further, adding more keys in Europe and the Middle East.

The Verdi brand aims to mix local culture into every property, creating a lifestyle brand that combines a commitment to sustainability, technology and quality. As a new brand, corporate social responsibility is naturally at its heart, with a focus from the start on reducing emissions and connecting with local communities.

As a new business, it has been possible to embed the latest technology into the hotels. One of these features is the “Just Walk Out Technology” deployed around the hotel amenities, allowing guests to take products when they need, with shelf detectors enabling a self-checkout function that enables billing without the need for staff interaction.

Verdi is a brand working within the Corinthia Hotel Group. Its launch hotels included two properties in Malta. The 106 room Verdi Gzira Waterfront features a rooftop splash pool for guests to enjoy, while the larger Verdi St George’s Bay Marina has 200 rooms. Guests at this second hotel can enjoy the hotel’s own pool and also have access to the adjacent facilities at the Corinthia St George’s Bay.

The third launch hotel was the Verdi Budapest Aquincum, a larger 310 room hotel. It features event and conference space, and a spa fed by thermal water.

Support from the parent company

Parent company Corinthia continues to expand its international portfolio. It has recently launched hotels in Brussels and Bucharest, and in New York city’s Upper East Side. And its Corinthia Rome, created by developers the Reuben brothers from the former Central Bank of Italy building on Parliament Square, is shortly to open for business.

In February 2025, the company signed to open Corinthia Dubai, a five star hotel and branded apartments that will sit within a striking new development on Sheikh Zayed Road, with a tower extending more than 500 metres into the sky.
