Hotel management group Zeus International has relaunched and rebranded its resort on the Greek island of Crete, as it plans to spend 2025 rebranding its broader business.
Today Zeus International is one of the leading hotel management companies in Greece, operating 16 hotels across Greece, plus Cyprus, Italy and Romania. It operates several branded properties under brands including Wyndham, Ramada and Dolce.
A luxury destination
The Mirabello Bay Luxury Resort, which formerly had Wyndham Grand branding, has relaunched with a fresh look and feel. The five star destination has seen considerable further investment, aiming to set new standards for the island of Crete.
Additions include five new private villas, sited on a hill with great views over Mirabello Bay, and the nearby town of Agios Nikolaos, promising guests complete privacy. Each has its own private terrace, pool and gardens, while interiors feature stone and timber elements that create a welcoming atmosphere. The largest of the villas accommodates a dozen guests with three bedrooms, separate dining space and fully fitted kitchens, as well as a round the clock concierge service to meet every conceivable need.
In a statement, the company confirmed: “Our new direction will build on our reputation for luxury and exceptional service, while continuing to offer authentic, local experiences that resonate with today’s modern travelers. Our aim is to redefine Mediterranean hospitality and become the top-of-mind choice for guests seeking personalized and unforgettable stays.”
In early 2024, Zeus International made several strategic additions to its portfolio, as part of a strategic ten year plan to build a position as one of the continent’s leading hotel management companies, via direct investments and strategic partnerships. These included acquisition of the Dolce Milan Malpensa hotel, and the Lazart Hotel Trademark Collection by Wyndham in Thessaloniki, both properties that the company already leased.
The Dolce hotel, with 207 rooms, is located close to Milan’s Malpensa airport outside the city. And the Lazart is a five star property just a short walk from the centre of Thessaloniki. At the time, Zeus founder Haris Siganos commented: “These new additions to the company’s portfolio demonstrate our dedication to the advancement and development of tourism and hospitality in Greece and abroad.”
Crete sees more international interest
The enhancement of the Mirabello Bay resort comes as international hotel brands take an increased interest in Crete, a large Greek island that has easy air connections and is expanding its tourism offer. In July 2024, IHG’s luxury InterContinental brand opened on Crete, close to the Mirabello. It has 199 rooms, some with individual plunge pools, while the hotel offers guests three Greek restaurants and bars.
Also in planning is the Triopetra Bay Resort, a major project on the island’s southern coast. A first phase will include a hotel, while the design and future phases will add residences, a golf course and conference centre.
