Studio Apostoli equips Green Lodges in Montegrotto Terme with shower surfaces and washbasins from KALDEWEI

With KALDEWEI, sustainable bathroom dreams come true. This is also demonstrated by the latest project from Studio Apostoli. The Italian design and architecture firm from Verona has redesigned eight suites of the resort and spa hotel Terme Preistoriche in the spa town of Montegrotto near Padua, close to Venice. In addition to the NUEVA and MIENA washbowls, NEXSYS floor-level shower surfaces were also integrated into the bathrooms of the luxurious Green Lodges.

The project in Montegrotto, directed by Alberto Apostoli, had an ecological and sustainable approach from the outset. In line with the project’s credo “Space for Nature”, the Green Lodges are designed to blend in gently as part of the landscape. It was therefore clear that centuries-old trees on the hotel grounds of Terme Preistoriche would not be felled for the construction of the lodges; rather, the aim was to combine nature and architecture harmoniously. “Our first step was to determine the location of the lodges and ensure that this did not require cutting down the trees on the property,” explains the architect. “Instead, we integrated the trees directly into the buildings. The lodges are shaped by the morphology of the land and ‘carved’ from the trunks, which are visible from the inside through glass systems.” Seven suites were integrated into wooden pile structures and connected by a system of ramps, walkways, and terraces that are nestled into the landscape. The eighth suite was created in a historic, well-preserved villa on the property.

Sustainable bathroom dreams with KALDEWEI

Apart from their unique location and interaction with nature, the lodges are clad in larch slats and built with a wood-based and environmentally sustainable system. They also have a heating system that runs directly on the thermal waters from the surrounding Euganean Hills. Zero CO2 emissions are a key element of the entire architectural and wellness concept. The KALDEWEI products from the Luxstainability® world, such as the MIENA and NUEVA washbowls made of recyclable, climate-friendly steel enamel, are a perfect match. Both versions are characterised by their elegant, timeless design and their delicate aesthetics. The renowned designers Anke Salomon and Werner Aisslinger placed great emphasis on clear lines and maximum functionality, making these models stylish highlights in every bathroom. Their precise workmanship and sustainable production from durable steel enamel emphasise the harmonious interplay of sophisticated design and ecological responsibility.

The NEXSYS shower surface also impressed the architects with its special profile: There is no quicker or easier way to get a floor-level shower surface with a channel design. Because NEXSYS is not simply a shower surface but rather a complete, installation-ready system. All components are fully connected and ready for installation, including a stable slope support and integrated waste channel – presented in the Green Lodges in the special rose gold finish. Especially for highly frequented hotel bathrooms, the shower surfaces promise lasting beauty without discolouration or scratches as well as easy cleaning for a hygienic shower area.

In the end, everything fits together harmoniously. In keeping with the project slogan for the Green Lodges, “Space for Nature.” It embodies “a genuine embracing of vegetation, creating a refuge of peace, a tribute to our land, its rhythms, colours and sounds”, concludes Alberto Apostoli.
