Ruby Hotels’ Rotterdam Glashaven hotel project has taken out this week’s coveted Project of the Week for its thoughtful conversion of an existing office building.

Second property for The Netherlands

Ruby Rotterdam will be the group’s second property in The Netherlands, following their successful launch of a flagship Amsterdam hotel in 2022.

The 225-room hotel will open in Rotterdam, the country’s secondary city, in the Glashavn district. Developed by Foruminvest, the property will be a conversion of a pre-existing office building. Ruby’s in-house design team will take charge of the interiors and overall design for the project.

Ruby has become known for its conversion projects, a tactic which the group claims allows them to secure prime locations in bustling international cities.

Focus on Rotterdam

The Glashavn District is nestled within the Maritime District, surrounded by historic ports and Rotterdam’s famed Maas River.

Rotterdam has become a destination in its own right, with its hotel market reflecting the city’s booming economy and growing tourism sector.

Bob van de Geer, Senior Manager Developments & Acquisitions at Foruminvest, noted that the hotel aligned with Foruminvest’s strategy to focus on prime locations in major European cities.

’We are truly grateful to collaborate on this project with Ruby, a team of true hotel professionals. This project marks the beginning of a successful partnership,” he added.
