The Spanish architect Alvaro Sans was the one to create the concept for the redesign of Meliá Milano. He believes that green, in its many forms, can greatly improve a persons’ quality of life.
Due to this philosophy, nature plays a key role in his concept. A wide variety of trees and shrubs breathe life into the interior structure and create a striking contrast to the neutral and minimalistic style of the furniture.
Rooms are cleverly structured with unique design elements such as decorative shelfs in place of walls.
The local architectural office Vittorio Grassi Architects incorporated Sans’ idea into the international project while preserving the Milano spirit.
“In collaboration with the architect Sans we have turned materials of natural origins into the protagonists of interior spaces that are capable of fully reflecting their essence – such as the Spanish Macael marble in combination with the elegant walnut wood with a natural finish- alongside big, mirrored surfaces that grant the rooms an elegant and yet inviting appearance”, describes Vittorio Grassi.
The Architec built-in basins and C.1 faucets in black matt perfectly suit the elegant atmosphere, as well as DuraStyle toilets and urinals.
Furthermore, the Architec Vital Med washbasins and DuraStyle Vital wall-mounted-toilets guarantee ease of use and accessibility.
„We chose Duravit for Meliá Milano because alongside the aesthetic aspect and comfort, this company also produces highly innovative products. Technological research is very important to us and with this in mind, the faucets we installed offer state-of-the-art hygiene and durability standards. The antibacterial treatments we requested (HygieneGlaze and WonderGliss) prevent dirt and limescale from settling on the surface, increase hygiene and reduce maintenance. All of these are fundamental aspects for projects in the hospitality sector “, says Vittorio Grassi.
