The hotel with its elliptical glass façade stands out as one of the tallest buildings in Würzburg’s cityscape and offers its guests in the upper suites breathtaking panoramic views of the city and surrounding area. The Franconian region is known for its wine history and so the interior concept plays with a variety of associations with the theme of wine. Earthy colours and a mix of different shades of blue and red, art work and wall panels represent the various wine flavours. The many interlocking elements allow guests’ eyes to wander to discover all the details and allusions analogous to the region’s wine trails – depicted on various wallpapers. This creates a cosy, homely ambience in the lobby and lounge area, which offers plenty of space but also creates a familiar atmosphere for guests thanks to the materials and acoustic elements. In the adjoining restaurant area, too, the existing room separation was integrated into the overall concept with new panelling elements to create a convivial atmosphere even when the restaurant is busy.
Brumann modernised the 204 rooms / suites on the basis of the model room. The design theme of wine was continued in the rooms. Wooden and warm colours as well as art work motifs give each room an individual character with its own identity and design statement.
A digital and visual highlight in the lobby area is the self-check-in with the avatar “Fritz”, also designed by Brumann in collaboration with the company Humanising Technologies. This avatar can perform routine tasks in several languages – such as check-in, check-out and answering service questions – and thus offers guests a 24-hour service and the hotel a charming and supportive digital solution.
