Hilton's Waldorf Astoria luxury hotel brand is expanding its presence from hotels to branded residences. Its first standalone branded residence project to be built outside the USA is planned for Dubai

Hilton is expanding its luxury Waldorf Astoria brand from hotels into branded residences, and has signed its first standalone residence project for the brand outside the USA.

Plans are in place for Waldorf Astoria Residences Dubai Downtown to be developed for a 2028 opening, with local real estate specialist NABNI Developments in charge of construction. The residences will be built on a 1.5 acre plot in Downtown Dubai, to designs by Carlos Ott Architects, with interiors created by Hirsch Bedner Associates.

Building a Dubai presence

Hilton already has a significant presence in Dubai, and for the COP28 meeting in November 2023 made 35 properties across the United Arab Emirates available for delegates and visitors. The group also highlighted some of its green initiatives, such as at Conrad Dubai, where the hotel is one of three in a Green Ramadan initiative, converting food leftovers into organic fertilizer. Elsewhere, DoubleTree Business Bay is sending the hotel’s coffee grounds to become fertilizer for growing mushrooms, in partnership with local growers. And the group’s Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Mall has won LEED platinum certification, through initiatives such as solar thermal panels on the building, and water recycling systems.

More brands coming

Upcoming openings for Hilton in the region include the Embassy Suites Dubai Business Bay, with 104 studios and one bedroom suites designed for those seeking more than a hotel room for their stay in the city. Guests will enjoy the brand’s evening reception, a great way to meet others and feel at home when visiting for the first time.

Elsewhere in the UAE, Hilton is opening Conrad Bahrain Financial Harbour. Its 96 rooms and suites will have stunning views across the Arabian Gulf, in a convenient location that is at the heart of an upcoming district of the city.
