Minor Hotels has announced plans to open a new Anantara resort in the Bandar Al Khairan coastal area close to Muscat in Oman.

Expected to open in 2026, this 121-key resort will place guests 45 minutes from the capital, Muscat, on a rugged stretch of Omani coast.

A strengthened partnership

For the development of this resort, Minor Hotels is partnering with the owner of the property, real estate acquisition and development arm of the MB Holding Company, Musstir, which also owns Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara on the south coast. The second development for this partnership marks a strengthened bond for the two forward-thinking groups.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of parent company Minor International, said: “The timeless beauty of the Omani coast is a natural home for this upcoming new addition to our Middle East portfolio.”

“Musstir are trusted partners who share our vision for the potential of this magnificent destination and our dedication to excellence across every element. Our team and I look forward to seeing this new Anantara come to fruition between the mountains and the sea.”

Safana Al Barwani, the Managing Director of Musstir, commented: “We are thrilled to grow our partnership with Minor Hotels and to add a new jewel to the crown of hospitality in Oman.”

“The new Anantara Resort in Bandar Al Khairan will blend harmoniously with its striking natural surroundings to help showcase the graceful majesty of our incredible home and invite travellers of the world to experience it for themselves.”

Luxury on the Omani Coast

The new resort will feature 51 guest rooms, 46 chalets and 24 villas set on the rugged shoreline overlooking the Gulf of Oman and providing contemporary luxury in a dramatic natural setting. Some of the accommodation units will also come with private pools.

The culinary experience will be a focus here, with five restaurants and bars on site, including an all-day dining restaurant serving international cuisine, a speciality restaurant, beach restaurant, delicatessen café and a rooftop bar with sea views.

Additional facilities found here will span an infinity swimming pool and kids’ splash pool, an Anantara Spa and fitness centre, kids’ and teens’ club lounge, meeting and event space, private stargazing majlis and a helipad.
