Japanese hotel chain Trunk is planning a new site in Sapporo with a scheduled opening of spring 2027.

Trunk Hotel Sapporo will mark the brand’s fifth location and will be situated in central Sapporo’s Odori area.

Mixed use complex

The new hotel will be part of the Sapporo Dai Building redevelopment project, led by Daibiru Corporation, a mixed use development which will also encompass office and retail elements.

Daibiru acquired Pivot, a shopping centre familiar to Sapporo locals, for this purpose and will transform the site to create this new concept. Trunk Hotel Sapporo will span floors 10 to 18 of the development.

Open design

The hotel will comprise between 100 and 110 guestrooms, including suites which feature open spaces with bathtubs located in the same space as the bedrooms.

Amenities will include a café and bar/lounge in the property’s open atrium; a spa; a speciality restaurant showcasing local Hokkaido ingredients; a gym; a theatre; a chapel; a boardroom and banquet rooms.

Other Trunks

In addition to the Sapporo site, the Japanese chain is planning two further hotels nationally, with one of these being Trunk Hotel Kobe  due to arrive in Hyogo and Kobe  in spring 2028.

Prior to this, in March 2027, the 250-key Trunk Hotel Dougenzaka is scheduled to open in Dogenzaka, Shibuya as part of the major Shibuya redevelopment project in Tokyo, and will be connected to Shibuya Station. The venue will feature the largest rooftop pool and bar in the area, as well as a rooftop restaurant. There will also be an indoor pool and a wellness spa.
