The Spanish hotel group Barceló has announced several hotel openings for 2023 as a part of its overall plans for growth in Spain and across the globe.

This year will see properties in various parts of Spain as well as Poland, Malta, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Cape Verde and Morocco open as a part of the group’s portfolio.

Domestic and global growth

Following two significant openings earlier this year – Canfranc Estacion, a Royal Hideaway Hotel in Spain’s Canfranc Valley and Barceló Funchal Oldtown in Madeira – Barceló is now continuing to grow, with a series of debuts on track for 2023 and the start of 2024.

These new additions to the hospitality group’s portfolio will include new openings, refurbishments and reopenings under Barceló Hotel Group’s management and the merging of resorts to create a new guest offering.

Upcoming properties for 2023 include openings in Poland, Malta, Granada in Spain, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Benidorm and Lanzarote in Spain, Slovenia, Cape Verde and Morocco.

Notable upcoming openings

These forthcoming debuts include the June-2023-opening Barceló Warsaw Powisle, Poland, which occupies the former Elektrownia Powiśle power station. Restored elements of this structure feature throughout the hotel’s 151 rooms.

Barceló Fortina, Malta is then set to open in July 2023. Reopening under Barceló Hotel Group’s management, the legendary property will offer a five-star hospitality experience in a beachfront position in the town of Sliema, close to Valletta.

In Spain, Palacio Gran Via, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, Granada is on track to opening this summer following the transformation of a bank in the historic centre of Granada. Later this year, the five-star Occidental Eden Beruwala, Sri Lanka will also reopen after an extensive refurbishment.
