Hilton sends Canopy into Tangier

Hilton Worldwide has signed an agreement to bring its Canopy by Hilton lifestyle brand to the Moroccan city of Tangier for the first time.

Expected to open in 2026, Canopy by Hilton Tangier Bay will echo the essence of Tangier’s energetic and eclectic neighbourhoods.

All amenities

The hotel will feature 110 guestrooms and suites with distinct design flair and personality, and will house three dining venues, including a Canopy Central concept which will act as the social hub of the hotel.

The property will also feature amenities such as an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, spa, fitness centre and flexible meeting and event spaces for small gatherings or grand celebrations.

Moroccan doubling

Carlos Khneisser, vice president, development, Middle East and Africa, Hilton, said: “Canopy by Hilton is growing across Africa, as we expand the brand into new destinations and showcase vibrant neighbourhoods in Tangier, Cape Town, and the Seychelles.

“The signing of Canopy by Hilton Tangier Bay reinforces our commitment to expanding Hilton’s portfolio in Morocco, where we plan to double our presence in the coming years.”  

National pipeline

Hilton currently operates six hotels in destinations across Morocco – Conrad Rabat Arzana, Hilton Taghazout Bay Beach Resort & Spa, Hilton Tanger City Center Hotel & Residences, Hilton Tangier Al Houara Resort & Spa, Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Centre, and Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca Sud, with another six properties under development.

Aside from Canopy by Hilton Tangier Bay, the remaining pipeline properties comprise Hilton Rabat. Canopy by Hilton Casablanca Les Arenes, Waldorf Astoria Tangier, DoubleTree by Hilton Marina Agadir Hotel & Residences and DoubleTree by Hilton Ben Guerir.
