The Water Club hotel within the resort will be renamed MGM Tower as part of the property’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
Nautical inspiration
The new offerings will feature more than 700 completely reimagined guestrooms and add a collection of luxury Vista Suites located at the tower’s corners with wraparound views of the Atlantic City skyline.
The remodel spans all aspects of the experience, from arrival to new accommodations, reflecting a contemporary and playful personality with nautical design elements inspired by Atlantic City’s Marina District.
Refreshed rooms
Light and airy guestrooms will feature bright and warm decor with a nautical palette of neutral and blue tones accented with deep wood finishes for a coastal feel. Joining the resort’s collection of existing suites, the newly created Vista Suites will feature an expansive living space, private bedroom, two bathrooms and a spacious dining area suitable for entertaining. Newly remodelled rooms will be available beginning this month with the project slated for completion by the end of May.
Borgata is also introducing a versatile 9,000 sq ft event space on the 32nd floor with views and tailor-made event capabilities in the location of the former Immersion Spa.
Towering design
Crafted in partnership with MGM Resorts International Design Group and interior design firm RVD Associates, the MGM Tower’s design motif embraces its natural geographic surroundings and water views of the Marina District. Clean white lines complemented by bold vibrant accents should deliver a fresh and contemporary spirit throughout the tower.
East-facing rooms will boast white curtains that open wide over floor-to-ceiling windows, while west-facing rooms will feature -blue curtains punctuating sightlines of the grassy marshland in the distance. White lacquer and natural wood furniture will sit atop a dark blue ombré carpet emulating the ocean tide, and three-dimensional resin art panels will add a splash of colour in a homage to regatta racing colours. Guest bathrooms will feature bright marble finishes, chrome fixtures and amenity storage space.
Bringing the outdoors in
Bringing a touch of the outside in, each guestroom will be accented by large prismatic colour block artwork inspired by the natural beauty of light and its ability to reflect off the surrounding water and the resort’s gold façade.
Lighting under the bed base will provide a soft white light, while headboard lighting should add a relaxing ambiance to the space. Plus a multi-use table will be crafted to support present day needs such as work or dining. Guestroom corridors, elevator vestibules and the resort’s lobby will also feature nautical inspiration with a light, refreshed design.
Significant reinvestment
Corey Sanders, chief operating officer for MGM Resorts International, said: “Introducing the MGM Tower connects Borgata with the unparalleled entertainment and resort experiences MGM Resorts is recognised for worldwide. We are incredibly proud of Borgata and its industry-leading team of employees, and we believe this significant reinvestment will drive visitation to Atlantic City well into the future.”
Travis Lunn, the resort’s president and COO, added: “As we approach the resort’s 20th anniversary, we are more committed than ever to remaining a leader in hospitality and entertainment by continuing to evolve the Borgata experience. We look forward to sharing our new vision with Borgata’s incredible guests in the coming months.”
American additions
Elsewhere in the US, MGM Resorts International is planning MGM Bridgeport in Connecticut. The resort will feature 300 luxury rooms, a casino, a 700-seat theatre, and retail and dining options.
Plus the group’s New York-New York Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is undergoing refurbishment, with the 1,830 keys featuring vibrant new designs and upgraded in-room amenities. Design details harken to New York City, such as rooms with exposed faux brick walls and accent colours such as Big Apple Red and Taxicab Yellow. The project is scheduled to complete in Q3 this year.
