Accor to add to Uzbek capacity

Accor has signed a cooperation agreement with SRG Projects LLC to build a new Mercure in Khiva in Uzbekistan.

Mercure Khiva is scheduled to open in 2025 in close proximity to Itchan Kala, the inner town of the old Khiva oasis.

Locality blending

The 146-room hotel will be located on the territory of the former Mevaston mahalla and is aimed at fitting into the city’s ancient architecture thanks to its authentic design, which represents the brand’s ‘locally inspired’ philosophy.

The two-storey property will offer 146 rooms, designed and inspired by local culture. The hotel’s infrastructure will include a wellness centre with a swimming pool, a modern gym as well as a restaurant, a cafe and conference rooms for business events.

Indelible impression

Alexis Delaroff, COO of Accor New East Europe, said: “We are delighted to expand our presence in Uzbekistan and add a new city to the map of Accor Group. Khiva is one of the most important centres of the Great Silk Road, along with Samarkand and Bukhara.

“The key features of the future hotel, such as comfort, chic, elegance and local spirit, will perfectly emphasise the true beauty of the ancient East, embodied in this unique oasis city. We are confident that Mercure Khiva and its surroundings will leave an indelible impression on our guests.”

Western Asia additions

The Mercure brand is also due to expand further in western Asia with Mercure Telavi Resort in Georgia. The hotel will occupy a new four-storey building in Ruispiri Village in Telavi, Kakheti region, at an altitude of 615 m above sea level. The 125-key site is due to open in 2024.

Plus in Georgia, the 124-room former Golden Palace Hotel Resort and Spa will soon be reopening as Mercure Yerevan by the end of Q1 this year after an extensive refurbishment.
