Showcasing the work of Thomas Associates Architects and HBA – Singapore, JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa has launched in one of India’s biggest cities.
Architecture and interiors inspired by the Nandi Hills area of Bengaluru provide the backdrop for an extraordinary array of culinary experiences and wellness facilities.
Verdant surroundings
The newly opened JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa stands out for its privileged location within the Nandi Hills area of the Indian city of Bengaluru. It lies within the 275-acre Prestige Golfshire course and luxury residential development, just a 20-minute drive from Kempegowda International Airport.
Reflecting the luxury brand portfolio it’s part of, this 301-key resort aims to help guests be present in mind, nourished in body and revitalised in spirit through an expansive service offering.
The modern property was designed by Bengaluru-based architectural firm Thomas Associates Architects, taking inspiration from the region’s silk. The interiors were then designed by HBA – Singapore, with a notable highlight being the lobby with its spectacular views of the Nandi Hills. Glass and dinnerware are supplied by Zwiesel Kristallglas.
“We are thrilled to debut JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa in this stunning region of India, with its breath-taking views, historic sites and exhilarating activities for outdoor enthusiasts,” said Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader, JW Marriott. “Our brand principles of mindfulness and connection have found the perfect setting in the resort’s nature-inspired surroundings and design, thoughtful service and holistic guest experiences.”
Rajeev Menon, president, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International, added: “We are excited to expand the JW Marriott brand with the opening of JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa – the ninth JW Marriott property in India. With India being a key market for the brand, this opening demonstrates our commitment to creating new benchmarks in service excellence in this region.”
Gastronomy and wellness
The culinary experiences on offer within the resort span six venues. Guests can dine at all-day dining restaurant Aviary, serving Indian, Western and Asian cuisines from live kitchens; and Asian specialty restaurant East, specialising in Japanese, Korean and Chinese dishes. Aaleeshaan, meanwhile, produces North-Western Frontier Indian cuisine in a space with views over the nearby hills.
These restaurants are joined by the lobby’s Vista Lounge, serving tea by day and acting as a gin bar at night; Patisserie Truffle & Co, for coffee and baked delicacies; and open-air Flamingo Bar & Pool, with sunset terrace.
The wellness experience here is headlined by the resort’s 20,000 sq ft Spa by JW, home to seven therapy rooms, an Ayurveda room, and a manicure and pedicure suite. This spa is complemented by a fitness centre, two outdoor pools, a lap pool and a temperature-controlled lagoon pool with Jacuzzi.
Activities open to guests include yoga and meditation sessions; cycling expeditions; morning walks through the JW Garden, where herbs and vegetables can be harvested by guests; and explorations of the resort’s landscaped grounds. Families, moreover, can make the most of the Family by JW programme.
Last but not least, a range of events are to be hosted in the resort’s 35,000 sq ft convention centre, capable of accommodating up to 4,000 delegates. There’s a 24,000 sq ft pillarless ballroom onsite and a further 66,000 sq ft of open lawns.
