This forthcoming Lux*-branded resort in South-East Asia, complete with a treehouse-inspired ‘Jungle Restaurant’, has won our latest Project of the Week title.

This exciting property on Phu Quoc Island pairs a lush natural setting with stylish design and an overwater villa concept.

Between the forest and sea

Lux* Phu Quoc, Vietnam is now under construction and expected to open in the second quarter of 2023. Developer PQ Hai Quoc Joint Stock Company is working with KulörGroup – Singapore and LJ-Group to create this elegant addition to The Lux Collective’s Lux* brand.

The newbuild resort is currently taking shape in the north of the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc, which draws in travellers with its white-sand shores, verdant interior home to forest paths and waterfalls, and ample opportunities for water sports including scuba diving. It’ll be home to luxurious guest accommodation, including overwater villas, along with a main arrival building, a ‘Jungle Restaurant’ perched atop a lush hillside that’s being designed to resemble a treehouse, an open-concept coffeehouse, a Beach Rouge restaurant and bar, infinity pools, a kids’ club, and a spa and wellness area.

Nature-inspired interiors

High pitch roofs and modern Vietnamese aesthetics will distinguish the main arrival building, which is to be decorated with traditional lacquer, rattan and bronze handcrafts, along with touches of yellow.

The villas are being designed to complement the surrounding environment, with laidback luxury interiors featuring well-crafted furniture and joinery. They’re intended to provide a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors, all while paying homage to cultural elements of Vietnam and taking inspiration from the lush tropical landscape and colours of the marine environment.

Expect upcycled wood, rattan weaving and handcrafted artworks in spaces that cleverly combine neutral tones with aquamarine and burnt-orange accents. High-pitched ceilings in whitewashed timber, moreover, will give the space a light and airy feel.

Sustainability is another key consideration, with local timber from old boats and houses set to be repurposed into furniture, wall panelling and architectural structures.
