The amount of FF&E required by the Middle East and Africa’s four- and five-star properties has been revealed in a new report by luxury hotel furniture manufacturer Wood Couture and TOPHOTELPROJECTS.

There’ll be enormous demand for high-quality supplies as hotel projects launch across the region.

Analysing MEA’s hotel FF&E market

An exclusive report by luxury hotel furniture supplier Wood Couture and market research company TOPHOTELPROJECTS has found that the Middle East and Africa’s hotel schemes will need US$8.26 billion of FF&E in the coming years – equivalent to a spend of $36,972 per key. Approximately $6.08 billion relates to five-star projects, while the remaining $2.18 billion involves four-star properties.

The FFE Market Demand Index Q1-2022 – Middle East & Africa study draws on information from the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database, which indicates that 223,438 new hotel rooms will complete across the region in the next few years, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco, Nigeria and Kenya as the top markets overall. Researchers have then drilled down further to gain a better picture of the category and size of each property, before combining this data with insights into typical FF&E cost per key figures in the region to estimate the total value of the market.

Helping hospitality bounce back

For the purposes of the research, FF&E is defined as loose furniture, decorative lighting, window treatments, decorative accessories, artwork and rugs (where applicable).

Wood Couture and TOPHOTELPROJECTS hope that this data-driven report, which is aimed at hotel operators, developers, investors, brands, architects, designers and suppliers, will help build confidence as the hospitality sector recovers from a challenging couple of years. It forms part of a wider research project covering the entire hotel pipeline globally, divided into four regions.
