Hotel giant Marriott International has struck a deal to open the KPF-designed The Westin Hotel São Paulo, the brand’s first property in Latin America’s largest country.
Brazil’s economic powerhouse is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a towering new hospitality scheme.
A prime location
Marriott International has signed a franchise agreement with Hotéis Deville to introduce a Westin-branded property to São Paulo. Slated to open in the spring of 2024, the project will feature 187 guestrooms and suites in the city’s exclusive Itaim Bibi district.
The Westin Hotel São Paulo will be part of the JK Square mixed-use development, set to bring together a mix of shops, offices and residences upon completion.
“We are delighted to announce this exciting newbuild project in a prime location within the city to be developed by Hotéis Deville,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer in the Caribbean and Latin America for Marriott International.
“São Paulo is a key South American gateway city with great opportunity for new quality branded upper-upscale product. Our signature wellbeing Westin brand will offer a fresh and unique experience to both international and Brazilian guests.”
Westin’s ambitious plans
According to the plans, the hotel will be home to a second-floor restaurant, a bar integrated into the lobby and a third-floor wellness area boasting a swimming pool and fitness centre. Events will also be catered for across a variety of conference and meeting rooms.
SDI Desenvolvimento Imobiliário will develop the KPF-designed scheme.
