The prolific AC Hotels by Marriott lifestyle brand has entered a new market with the opening of a stylish 129-key property operated by Highgate in the Caribbean.
This property combines design inspiration taken from the culture and history of the Dominican Republic with upscale amenities designed to appeal to both leisure and corporate travellers.

AC Hotel by Marriott Punta Cana is now welcoming guests to stay in its 129 guestrooms, which are complemented by multifunctional public spaces, in one of the Caribbean’s most popular destinations. The scheme, created in collaboration with investment group EGI Business Group, is being operated by Highgate.
“With a picture-perfect location, the first AC Hotel in the Dominican Republic offers visitors elegant and purposefully designed spaces, modern rooms and a refined culinary experience,” said Jeff Tomczek, vice president and global brand leader of Distinctive Select Brands at Marriott International. “We’ve created an ideal environment to become a benchmark in hospitality for Punta Cana and throughout the country, which will allow discerning travellers to live life by design with everything they need and nothing they don’t.”
Locally inspired design
The scheme’s interiors are inspired by the culture and history of the Dominican Republic, as well as the Caribbean environment, incorporating local ceramics, ornaments and crafts. And the brand’s signature spaces – including the Spanish-inspired AC Kitchen, the AC Lounge offering tapas-style plates with expertly made cocktails and the tranquil AC Library – are all present and correct too.
Guests can enjoy food, drink and entertainment on the outdoor terrace, which features an infinity pool with children’s area, cabanas and lounge seating. There’s also more than 700 sq ft of flexible meeting space, along with two smaller meeting rooms and an outdoor lawn.
AC Hotel by Marriott Punta Cana, which focuses on so-called bleisure travellers, is located just 15 minutes away from Punta Cana International Airport.
