Founded in 2020 as a subsidiary of bedding manufacturer Latexco, Suitenings is on a mission to ensure exceptional sleeping experiences in the world’s hotels, resorts, B&Bs and holiday homes. The company offers the hospitality industry a wide range of customised, luxury bedding products and services.
As travel slowly begins to recover after the Covid19 pandemic, luxury hotel bedding brand Suitenings is strengthening its foothold in the European hotel market. By appointing Nicolas Pukan as sales manager contract business France, Suitenings aims to increase market share for its portfolio of high-quality beds, mattresses and toppers in France – a country with a rich hotel heritage.
A subsidiary of bedding manufacturer Latexco, Suitenings was launched in December 2020, in the middle of the Covid19 crisis. While the pandemic was – and still is -disrupting travel, Latexco’s CEO Lieven Vandendriessche strongly believes in the potential of Suitenings’ high-quality bedding solutions and services.
“The 2021 turnover in Europe’s hotel market will remain 39% lower than its 2019 level and full recovery is only expected in 2022. Still, we believe that, as travel recovers, a renewed hospitality market will emerge, so this the perfect time for the hospitality sector to reflect on their future strategies,” Vandendriessche explains.
Post-Covid hotels: Comfort and sustainability
“The pandemic has changed people’s travel behaviour,” Pukan says. “More than ever, everyone has become aware of how invaluable health is. Pristine cleaning, comfort and wellbeing will therefore be priorities for travellers. As is sustainability. Hoteliers that meet these expectations are sure to outsmart the competition.
“Suitenings offers the hotel market just that. As our bedding solutions are made of high-quality materials, with luxurious finishing and a clear focus on ergonomics and comfort, they guarantee a five-star sleep experience. In addition, Suitenings attaches great importance to sustainability.
“Our products are all produced with latex, a natural product, and our parent company Latexco has been a pioneer in sustainability for years. More than that, we provide hoteliers with removal and recycling services for their existing mattresses, making sure these are disposed of in the most sustainable way possible.
“As travel recovers, a renewed hospitality market will emerge. As we have all become aware how invaluable health is, hotels will have to focus, more than ever, on comfort, wellbeing and sustainability.”
France: A leading tourist destination
With France being the world’s most important international tourist destination (by number of overnight stays), Suitenings’ expansion into France is a logical choice.
“France features 17,000 hotels, many of which are in the middle to luxury ranges. While hotel occupancy rates dropped steeply in 2020 and 2021, the French hotel sector resisted the crisis better than other markets. Moreover, France remains one of the world’s top countries for foreign investors, which is a good signal to the tourism industry. All that makes it a promising market for Suitenings’ high-quality mattresses, toppers and beds,” says Pukan. “I’m looking forward to working hand-in-hand with the Suitenings team to exploit these opportunities.”
Strengthening Suitenings’ presence in France
Latexco is excited about Pukan joining the team. Pukan brings over 20 years of experience in the hotel industry. Between 1999 and 2017, he offered design and technical services for hotel projects.
“By teaming up, we add a wealth of experience and know-how about the hotel sector in general and the French market in particular. I’m sure Nicolas will help us consolidate our presence in France. We enjoy discussing our future strategy together and look forward to embracing the potential of the sector in the coming years. Nicolas brings with him a wealth of experience and know-how about the hotel sector in general and the French market in particular,” Vandendriessche says.
