Victoria + Albert’s guide to cottagecore bathroom design

From cottagecore to rustic vogue, cottage bathroom interiors are the design style of 2021.

From cottagecore to rustic vogue, cottage bathroom interiors are the design style of 2021.

Seamlessly integrating traditional cottage elements with modern design features, this nostalgic style evokes sentimental comforts in a modern abode.

Victoria + Albert’s Emma Joyce provides some design advice for a cottagecore bathroom: “Cottage design is all about bringing vintage elements into the space through a modern lens. So start with a feature wallpaper that brings, for example, a regency flock design bang up to date, such as those from House of Hackney or Graham & Brown.

“Choose main elements, such as a freestanding bath and washstand, that can be reinterpreted using new colours and finishes. Draped fabrics, framed prints and traditional soaps should add carefully curated clutter. Above all, the aim is to create warmth, comfort and a deep sense of place.”

Victoria + Albert is known for its chic and sculptural contemporary baths, but it also produces a fine range inspired by Victorian and Edwardian cast-iron baths, with traditional clawed feet. Made from Victoria + Albert’s unique composite material, Quarrycast, which is light, strong and warm to the touch, these can be specified in any of 199 RAL exterior colours, in gloss or matt.

Also perfect for the Cottagecore look are Victoria + Albert’s washstand collection, such as the Metallo 100. Elegant and refined, with the benefit of a beautiful composite Quarrycast basin that will not chip or crack.
