Developed by Dominvs Group and built by McAleer & Rushe in south-west England, the 202-key hotel has reached a key construction milestone ahead of its opening in early 2022.
This convenient six-storey hotel lies within the boundaries of the City of Bath Unesco World Heritage Site.
A new social hub for Bath
On completion, Hampton by Hilton Bath promises to support the English city’s recovery from the Covid19 crisis, and bring a new bar, restaurant and gym to the area at street level. In keeping with its location, the building is being designed to maintain the character of the area and complement the surrounding architecture, albeit with a modern twist.
This project fits in with Bath’s spatial strategy to bring more hotels to the city, developing properties that stay true to the identity of the area.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone for our Hampton by Hilton hotel in Bath,” said Jay Ahluwalia, director of Dominvs Group. “This past year has been extremely difficult for the industry and reaching this point in the development ahead of schedule is testament to the brilliant individuals and teams working across the project. Once the hotel opens next year, it will serve as a vibrant and social hub for the local community, which will be vital in supporting Bath’s post-pandemic recovery.”
Sensitive architectural design
Construction of the hotel began in September 2019. The building comprises a reinforced concrete frame, with locally and sustainably sourced Bath stone making up the façade alongside a zinc-effect cladding that’s in keeping with the city’s built environment.
“There have certainly been several obstacles to overcome over the past year and our team has shown great determination to get us to where we are today,” said Mark Diamond, senior director at McAleer & Rushe. “We are incredibly grateful to have a longstanding relationship with Dominvs that is based on collaboration and trust, especially during such difficult times, and this project is a prime example of its success. This begins the final chapter of the construction and we look forward to delivering the hotel on time and to the highest quality.”
Nick Smart of Hilton Worldwide added: “Despite what has been a challenging year, we are proud of our partners and their perseverance to bring the project to this stage. The finish line is in sight and this hotel will be a shining light in our portfolio and the historic city of Bath.”
