Following the biggest renovation in its 110-year history – led by the likes of Rafael de La-Hoz and Gilles & Boissier – Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid has finally reopened its doors.

It’s been a long time coming, but Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid is back at last, complete with a striking new look.

Originally designed and built under the supervision of legendary hotelier César Ritz, the 153-room hotel, which first opened in 1910, has emerged from a top-to-bottom three-year restoration – the biggest in its history. Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz and French design studio Gilles & Boissier, which oversaw the interiors, have worked together to transport the property into the 21st century with enhanced facilities, top technology and a slick residential-like aesthetic, all the while preserving the Belle Époque character of the original building.

A new gastronomic hotspot

Tipped to become a major new culinary destination, the hotel boosts Madrid’s already thriving food scene with the inclusion of five distinctive dining concepts. Overseen by three-Michelin-starred chef Quique Dacosta, the F&B offering includes Deessa, which serves up a fresh menu celebrating locally sourced produce; Palm Court, whose modern dishes are served under a spectacular central glass canopy; and Champagne Bar, offering tailored pairings.

In a first for the hotel, Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid will also offer a wellness programme, along with a spa – managed in partnership with The Beauty Concept – a heated indoor swimming pool, a vitality pool, experience showers, a steam room and a fitness centre.

Located in Madrid’s cultural district, not far from the city’s El Retiro Park, the hotel is once again primed to host an impressive array of VIPs in the years ahead.
