Taking over several historic buildings, Cartagena’s upcoming Four Seasons property sits on the edge of the Colombian port’s Unesco World Heritage-listed walled city.

The forthcoming hotel and accompanying residences will provide an immersion into the remarkable character of this iconic destination on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

A historic transformation

Created through a partnership between Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and San Francisco Investments, Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Cartagena involves the revitalisation of several buildings dating back to the 16th century. These are: the Cloister of Saint Francis, encompassing Saint Francis Church; the 1920s Beaux Arts Club Cartagena; and four theatres – Teatro Cartagena, Teatro Calamari, Teatro Bucanero and Teatro Rialto. Careful restoration work will preserve the heritage-rich buildings’ original architecture.

Located just steps from Cartagena’s Unesco World Heritage-listed walled city, within the Getsemani neighbourhood, this property will place guests and residents at the heart of the coastal hub. As well as providing immediate access to Cartagena’s historic district, the hotel is close to Bodeguita Pier, which is the setting-off point for boat trips to Baru Island and the Islas Corales del Rosario. Business travellers will also have direct access to the city’s convention centre next to the hotel.

A lavish new lifestyle hub

On completion, the hotel will showcase interiors designed by Francois Catroux and Wimberly Interiors, and comprise 131 guest rooms including a 4,200 sq ft Royal Suite and 3,500 sq ft Presidential Suite. The hotel’s architectural design was led by WATG.

Facilities here will include six AvroKO-designed indoor and outdoor drinking and dining concepts, plus an atrium lounge at the heart of Club Cartagena. Moreover, a rooftop pool will provide views of the ancient walled city and Cartagena Bay, and guests will be able to make use of a pool bar and grill, cabanas and daybeds. A signature Four Seasons spa and fitness centre will cater for all of guests’ wellbeing needs.

These hotel amenities will be complemented by 16,000 sq ft of event space and 16 private residences, which come with personalised Four Seasons service.

The property is currently slated to make its debut in 2022.
