The Unbound Collection welcomes first German hotel

The Wellem in Düsseldorf has become The Unbound Collection by Hyatt’s debut property in German-speaking markets.

The Wellem in Düsseldorf, internationally renowned for its impressive art collection, has become The Unbound Collection’s debut property in German-speaking markets.

The luxury boutique hotel, which previously operated as a Hyatt House, is now part of one of Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s most prestigious brands.

The Unbound Collection debuts in Germany

Located in Düsseldorf’s Andreas Quarter, the property is named after influential local figure Jan Wellem, and boasts 102 studios and suites. Of particular note are its exclusive fifth-floor suites, which offer access to a chic rooftop terrace, while there are also three stylish restaurants onsite.

A blend of both traditional and contemporary design that echoes the trajectory of this important German city, The Wellem is housed in a historic structure built in 1913 that originally served as a courthouse. The Unbound Collection’s hotels each have their own unique narrative, and The Wellem certainly does not disappoint in this regard.

Making art central to the guest experience

Perhaps the standout feature of this elegant property is its curated art collection – the hotel boasts an impressive stock of contemporary artworks gracing the walls of both the common areas and guest rooms. The collection includes important works by celebrated figures in the art world, including Jeff Koons, Julian Schnabel and HA Schult.

As well as this, the hotel prides itself on having its very own private art concierge, who can provide guests with information about the items on display, or offer tours of local galleries and museums.

“As a nod to the art displayed within the property, The Wellem’s mission is to celebrate the individuality of each guest entering through our doors,” said Till Westheuser, general manager at The Wellem. “The hotel offers the perfect playground for individually minded guests and we want them to create their own story-worthy experiences at Germany’s first hotel within The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand portfolio.”

The properties within The Unbound Collection by Hyatt have their own individual brand identities, free from constraint or convention.
