Madrid’s iconic Hotel Villa Magna is set to join ultra-luxury brand Rosewood Hotels & Resorts next year following its refurbishment by RLH Properties.
The prestigious Rosewood brand will make its Spanish debut at Hotel Villa Magna, it has been revealed. We find out more about this exciting announcement.
Rosewood’s long-awaited entry into Spain
A landmark deal has been signed between RLH Properties and Rosewood that will see the latter manage Hotel Villa Magna on Paseo de la Castellana in central Madrid. Rosewood is continuing its expansion into Europe apace, and no doubt the addition of this well-known property near the city’s Golden Triangle of Art will cement its reputation as a leading light of the global hospitality scene.
Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, said: “As one of the world’s most alluring cultural capitals, Madrid is an ideal destination in which to raise the Rosewood flag, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to join together with our valued partners at RLH to breathe new life into one of the city’s most prolific properties, Villa Magna.
“A mecca for arts, culture and cuisine that perfectly balances the old with the new, Madrid offers the perfect canvas for our guiding ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy. We look forward to bringing our differentiated approach to ultra-luxury hospitality to Spain with this special hotel.”
Revamping Madrid’s celebrated hotel
Given the ongoing Covid19 crisis that has rocked the international hospitality industry, Hotel Villa Magna is currently closed, but is due to reopen on 1 September 2020 when it will continue to operate independently for the time being.
RLH Properties is currently undertaking major refurbishment works; Rosewood will then assume management once these have come to an end in late 2021. Rosewood Villa Magna will feature 150 guest rooms and suites, distinct dining experiences and Sense, A Rosewood Spa.
Borja Escalada, CEO of RLH Properties, said: “The iconic Villa Magna plays an important part in Madrid’s history, and as such we are proud to embark on this new journey with our exceptional team at the Villa Magna and together with Rosewood Hotel Group towards enhancing this unique asset that enjoys an irreplaceable location and taking it to the next level of luxury. We are excited to add our third Rosewood property to the RLH portfolio, alongside sister resorts Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico and the upcoming Rosewood Mandarina in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico.”
Established in 1979, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been welcoming guests to a world of refinement and sophisticated travel for over three decades.
