Hilton announces Lagos Airport Hotel to open in 2023 as part of the group’s plans to increase key count in the booming Nigerian capital.

A swish new Hilton property is due to open near Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport at the start of 2023.

The hotel is currently under construction and will bring an additional 350 rooms to the Nigerian capital. We find out more.

Hilton bets on Africa with new Lagos airport hotel

Hilton continues to invest heavily in Africa with the announcement that its Lagos airport hotel will open in the first quarter of 2023.

The deal for the Hilton Lagos Airport Hotel was signed in 2016 and forms part of Hilton’s growth strategy in Africa to increase its portfolio in the region. Currently, the group has around 80 projects in the pipeline, and its presence is set to double in the coming years.

The Hilton Lagos Airport Hotel will join the neighbouring Legend Hotel Lagos Airport, Curio Collection by Hilton in expanding Hilton’s key count the Nigerian capital.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide, spoke of Hilton’s plans in Nigeria, saying, “With a population of more than 16 million, Lagos is the seventh-fastest growing city in the world and the second largest in Africa, with much of the nation’s wealth and economic activity concentrated here.”

“Strong growth is forecasted in both domestic and international travellers using Murtala Muhammed International Airport, so this exemplary new hotel will be well placed to meet traveller’s needs, offering an unparalleled level of design, comfort and service,” he went on to say.

A stunning addition to Lagos’ skyline

Hilton is pulling out all the stops for this new-build, 5-star hotel. Luxury is the name of the game at Hilton Lagos Airport Hotel, and guests will be wowed by the property as soon as they set their eyes on it.

The hotel takes the form of an oval and accommodation is housed around the perimeter, while facilities and amenities such as luscious gardens with a canopy of palm fronds, elevated walkways through lush vegetation, cascading pools and calm bathing areas can be found on various levels of this impressively designed hotel.

Set over several levels, the property takes advantage of the differences in height and uses external decks, atria and sunken lobbies to create a variety of spaces that are designed to wow visitors.

Convenience and comfort

The hotel is located a stone’s throw away from the airport, providing convenient accommodation for travellers flying in and out of Lagos. Business travellers will be especially drawn to the Hilton Lagos Airport Hotel because of its extensive meeting and conference facilities, with over 2,600sqm event space, including a 1,350sqm ballroom and 500sqm junior ballroom.

Leisure guests can enjoy the relaxing outdoor areas, as well as a hip nightclub, speciality restaurants and a trendy rooftop bar. The property boasts 350 guest rooms and suites, all of which are executed to Hilton’s stellar international standards.
