25hours expands northwards to Denmark
25hours, the German hotel group which has been making waves in the lifestyle market, is planning on dipping its toes into the Scandinavian market for the first time.
25hours’ inaugural venture into the Nordic region is set to take place in 2021, with the opening of its first hotel in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.
The company signed a long-term lease agreement with property development and real estate company Hines for a unique and historic venue located in the centre of Copenhagen’s old town.
This building was formerly part of the university and housed the Faculty of Theology and Law.
Prior to this, it was home to the Royal Porcelain Factory in the late 1700s and had another life as a paper factory in the 19th century.
History meets modernity at 25hours
25hours is known for delving deep into the history and culture of its destinations, and of course the same will be true of the Copenhagen property.
The hotel will feature 243 guest rooms, and the interior design will reflect both the industrial and educational history of the building.
BBP ARKITEKTER in Copenhagen and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, a British interior designer firm, will collaborate on the design and receive some additional support from 25hours’ in-house creative team.
, Chief Development Officer of the 25hours Hotel Company, says, “We are currently aiming to open in June 2021. Copenhagen has always been a favoured destination. The city radiates creative energy, is a pioneer in mobility and has probably one of the most exciting culinary scenes in Europe. We have extensively studied the hotel market for the past five years and have reviewed a number of projects. It has finally worked out for us after several attempts and we couldn’t be happier. The combination of location, size of the property and development partner is simply unique.”
James Robson, Hines’ Nordic regional head, added, “25hours Hotels is an exciting, international brand that will offer something unique in central Copenhagen. We are delighted that our development will be home to their first hotel in Denmark. Købmagergade’s popular location and the dynamic combination of brands we are looking to partner with will create an attractive destination for international tourists and the domestic market. This is a very positive investment in Copenhagen and reflects the city’s growing appeal as an international destination.”
