The Bond Five Star Design conference showcases the world’s best new hotel projects.
TOPHOTELPROJECTS Founder and CEO Rolf W. Schmidt addressed delegates at the event, presenting the latest pipeline information on luxury hotels around the world, based on figures from TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION.
We find out more.
Luxury coming out on top in Asia Pacific
The luxury hotel market in Asia continues to boom, according to figures presented by Schmidt at the recent Bond Five Star Design forum held in Venice, Italy from April 4-7.
This event brings together the top architects and interior designers from across the hospitality industry. Operating exclusively in the 5-star market, the delegates were no doubt eager to hear what Schmidt had to say about the industry’s luxury sector.
One of the most interesting statistics presented about the international luxury market was the number of hotel projects in the pipeline for the Asia Pacific region, which expects 965 luxury projects in the coming years, which will bring an additional 252,388 rooms to this booming corner of the world.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, China is the frontrunner in Asia, with 537 projects currently underway or in planning, which will add a further 135,199 luxury guest rooms and suites to China’s hotel roster.
Luxury developments underway in Europe
European luxury has never shown any signs of slowing down, and this is true too of developments within the continent’s hospitality market.
Currently, there are 456 luxury projects underway or in the pipeline for Europe, aiming to bring 73,446 new rooms to a whole spread of countries from west to east.
The projects are spread out among the largest and most prominent European countries. As you might expect, the UK, Germany, Spain and France await the biggest swathe of new hotel openings in the coming years.
85, 57, 35 and 34 new properties respectively are set to welcome visitors between now and 2023, and beyond.
London and Paris out ahead in Europe
As the cradle of contemporary culture, it is no wonder that Paris is sticking to its luxury guns, and the City of Lights plans to welcome 18 new luxury properties in the coming years.
London, also no stranger to luxury hotel construction, will play host to 26 new luxury hotels, which will add 4,491 new guest rooms to the British capital, which has stalled slightly in the lead up to an as yet uncertain Brexit.
With news developing all the time around this topic, hoteliers, investors and operators will be delighted to finally know the eventual outcome.
Let’s take a look at a few other luxury hotel projects currently underway around the world:
