The Maryland-based hotel group will launch hundreds of schemes next year, including this stunning trio under its The Ritz-Carlton, St Regis and Autograph Collection brands.

Our researchers report that Marriott International is on track to open an impressive 351 properties in 2022, adding an extraordinary 73,214 rooms to its portfolio. Here, we’ve picked out three newbuild projects that really stand out from the crowd – a landmark hotel for The Ritz-Carlton in Melbourne, a significant St Regis development in Belgrade and a milestone Autograph Collection property in Phnom Penh.

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne

Located on levels 64 to 77 of one of four skyscrapers that make up the city’s new urban mixed-use project West Side Place, The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne has been routinely billed as the southern hemisphere’s tallest hotel ever since it was first announced. With dramatic views on all sides, this spectacular scheme will have 263 rooms in total, and is scheduled to launch in Q2 2022.

The ambitious transformation of the former Age newspaper site at 250 Spencer Street will also contain lots of apartments and retail space. Far East Consortium is developing the scheme, while Rush\Wright Associates and Cottee Parker in Brisbane are behind the property’s architecture, and Bar Studio is responsible for the interiors alongside KPDO and HBA in Melbourne.

The St Regis Belgrade

On opening in Q2 2022, this 119-key hotel will accommodate guests in the first nine floors of the exclusive 40-storey Kula Belgrade skyscraper within Eagle Hill’s Belgrade Waterfront development. The tower, which is being designed by SOM, will also feature 220 St Regis residences.

The guest experience at The St Regis Belgrade will be enhanced by the addition of a host of luxury amenities, including a panoramic destination restaurant at the top of the tower, an all-day dining restaurant and the St Regis Bar, taking inspiration from the legendary King Cole Bar at The St Regis New York. Travellers will be able to unwind in a spa or pool, work out in a gym or utilise event and meeting space at the hotel, whose interior design is being led by HOK’s London studio.

The KHŌM Hotel, Phnom Penh

Marking Autograph Collection’s entry into Cambodia, The KHŌM Hotel is set to open in Phnom Penh in Q2 2022. Developed by WYWAZA Properties, with Bloom Architecture behind the architectural design and FBEYE in Singapore working on the interiors, this 144-key hotel promises to capture the spirit of Khmer culture.

Guests will benefit from access to an array of amenities during their stay, including a themed specialty restaurant, casual café and all-day dining restaurant with a semi-open kitchen. These dining options will be complemented by a sky lounge and bar with views of the Royal Palace, Independence Monument and Mekong River, as well as a fitness centre, spa and outdoor pool with sundeck and bar, plus ample meeting space.
