The iconic Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas is now home to the latest outpost of Hilton Worldwide’s Canopy by Hilton lifestyle brand.
Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk, the first property under the brand’s umbrella in this bustling Texan city, is open for business.
Boosting the Lone Star State’s hospitality offering
The vibrant and energetic city of San Antonio, Texas has been buoyed by the launch of the 195-key Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk. San Antonio bears the distinction of having been designated by Unesco as a ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’, and this hotel celebrates the strong local food scene.
General manager Daniel Haughan said: “We are thrilled to provide our guests with an authentic experience that brings San Antonio to life through locally inspired design and South Texas cuisine while also providing a place to relax and recharge. With incredible views of the Riverwalk and cultural attractions just steps away, guests are immersed in San Antonio’s vibrant fiesta culture.”
Old meets new in San Antonio
The hotel, owned by Crockett Urban Ventures and operated by White Lodging, is a mix of old and new, much like the city itself. Indeed, the property incorporates the old American Civil War-era Alamo Fish Market building into its footprint, and has retained some period features, such as limestone walls and the historic cistern.
Canopy by Hilton‘s latest outpost blends seamlessly into the surrounding city and, as is typical of the brand, draws plenty of inspiration from its surroundings. The classic San Antonio quatrefoil logo can be seen on the black and white tiled pattern in the guestroom showers, for example, reflecting the four pillars of the city: People, Pride, Passion and Promise.
Recognising the city’s craftmanship
The generous guestrooms are also laden with carefully curated art and textiles that echo the city’s craftsmanship, while San Antonio’s rich culinary heritage can be enjoyed in the new bar and restaurant offerings onsite. Domingo Restaurant showcases the flavours of South Texas, while Otro Bar offers guests signature cocktails based on local highlights, such as the River Walker.
Enthusiasts, staff members with a love and knowledge of the area, are on hand to make insider recommendations about all of San Antonio’s hotspots too. Meanwhile, business travellers can avail themselves of the 2,300 sq ft of flexible meeting and event space, or plug in at the co-working space in the lobby, which is also ideal for casual catch-ups over coffee. And those looking to burn off a few calories during their stay are catered for by the inclusion of a 24-hour fitness centre.
