The TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows that Doha’s development slate looks very promising indeed, with a wealth of four- and five-star properties on their way.

According to our dedicated research team, Doha’s busy pipeline currently boasts 36 hotels and 10,345 rooms. We look at which developments are worth adding to your watchlist.

Doha’s hotel openings by year

In 2021, 24 properties will open their doors in the Qatari capital; it may also interest you to know that 11 are currently in the pre-opening phase. Seven more launches are scheduled for 2022, and another five are on the cards for 2023 and beyond.

Half of these 36 hotels will be in the five-star luxury segment, while the other half will be in the four-star category.

Top hotel brands growing in Doha

NH Collection will add two properties in Doha and thus grow its offering by 456 rooms, our data suggests.

Elsewhere, Pullman Hotels & Resort will open a stylish 468-key property in the city. And another Accor brand, Sofitel Hotels & Resorts, is planning to launch a 420-room hotel of its own.

New hotels to watch out for in Doha

Set to open in 2022, Rixos Doha Qetaifan will comprise a 345-room hotel surrounded by an impressive set of entertainment and lifestyle facilities. They include an 11,000 sq m souq, beach club, theme park and waterpark, all with panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf. Located on the North Island of Lusail City, the hotel will be 27 km from the airport, while guests will be able to access the mainland via two iconic hanging bridges.

Meanwhile, Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort will occupy a prime beachfront location within the landmark Katara Cultural Village, giving guests convenient access to theatres, concert halls, exhibition galleries, mosques, restaurants, shops, a park and an amphitheatre. The scheme will offer 91 luxurious rooms, suites and villas with views of the Arabian Gulf and Doha’s skyline, while its F&B offering will include an all-day dining venue, a lobby lounge, a cigar lounge and a beach club. The opening date has been set for Q3 2022.

Targeting a very different market, incidentally, Somerset West Bay Doha will offer 200 serviced residences from Q2 2021. Guests will be able to take their pick from a range of two- and three-bedroom apartments, all featuring a well-equipped kitchen, separate dining and living spaces, and hotel-like services.
